Briesch Compliance is a legal and compliance risk management consultancy specialising in financial services and maritime regulatory law.
The firm is based in Pretoria, South Africa, and is wholly owned and managed by its directors, Deidré Briesch and Carl Briesch.
Our team
Deidré Briesch and Carl Briesch make up the firm's core work team. Collectively they have over 25 years experience in regulatory law in the transport and financial services fields, spanning operational, specialist, management, and consulting levels.
Deidré Briesch is responsible for financial services consulting. She specialises in assisting firms operating in the highly regulated financial services sector to appreciate and manage compliance risks effectively. Her extensive experience covers, in particular, the following South African legislation:
Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act; Pension Funds Act; Long-term Insurance Act; Short-term Insurance Act; Medical Schemes Act; and Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
She is admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa and holds the following qualifications:
BLC LLB (UP); Certified Compliance Professional (CISA); Certificate in Pension Funds Law (UNISA); Certificate in Compliance Management (RAU); Certificate in Life Assurance Practice (UP); Certificate in Exchange Rate and Exchange Control Policies (SA Reserve Bank College).
Carl Briesch is responsible for maritime consulting. He specialises in maritime regulatory law and has extensive public sector experience in maritime administration and regulation.
He is admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa and holds the following qualifications: BA LLB (UCT); and Certificate in Legislative Drafting (UP).
